Out with the Old.....In with the New!

Happy New Year everyone! Yeah I know I am a bit late with it and I haven't updated well.....for like ever! As each new year rolls around I always seem to reflect back on the old year and remember the good and the bad.....and then I proceed to think about what I have coming up or want to happen in this new year. Here are some of things I reflected on from last year and then what I am looking forward to this coming year!

2008
The GOOD:
1. I finished my first year of teaching and got rehired so that is a good thing!
2. I made some very close friends that continue to help and touch my life.
3. I was able to spend more time with my family then I have been able to in a long time.
4. I became an auntie again!
5. I got to see one of my best friends sealed for time and all eternity!
6. I went to an awesome mission reunion and saw lots of good friends!
7. I had a whole summer to go and visit my two best friends.
8. I DIDN'T get into a car accident........thats way good news for me!
9. I moved to a new apartment which I absolutely love.
10. I got a new calling in the Relief Society which is teaching me new stuff already and making me want to become a better person.
11. Went on vacation with my family to Mexico.

The Bad:
1. I didn't get to go to Peru as I had planned.
2. Losing my wallet :-(
Well those were the only two I could really think of! :-)

What I look forward to in 2009
1. Going to PERU!!!!
2. Paying off a lot of my bills!
3. Getting in shape!
4. Starting back to school for a Masters
5. Seeing my best friend's baby when he/she is born

Saturday was an awesome one! Our Multi-YSA committee put on an amazing dinner and mystery, "A Thief at the Oscars". We the actors went around to all the tables and shared different intrigues about the the other actors with the dinner guests. Then we had an Oscar awards ceremony and it was stolen. Then the audience had to guess who took it! I was Reese Witherfork! I had so much fun acting and playing the part and getting all gussied up for the event as well!!!!

No Excuse for this Wind!

As I sit here listening to the wind blow about 1000 miles an hour I can't help but remember one of my Dad's all-time funniest sayings concerning the oh so glorious wind. The San Luis Valley should be famous for the wind it produces, especially in the Spring. SPring was the very season at the time of this memory. It had been a particulary bad week, lots and lots of wind. It was making us all crazy. I was out in the porch doing something when my day got whipped into the house by the door that was snapping in the wind. It was then that he looked out side with such animosity and yelled, "There is no excuse for this Wind!" Now I don't know if I am the only one that finds this hilarious but I do! Everytime I think of this I giggle myself into tears. We have since teased him relentlessly for this wonderful one liner. I guess my question is still, what is the excuse for the wind? :-)

A little gratitude!

So today wasn't anything special but I just feel the need to express gratitude for some of things that I am blessed with every day!

1. I am grateful for a wonderful mother! It makes my day to talk to her and just hearing her voice makes everything that went wrong during the day melt away and it you know everything is going to work out in the end.
2. I am grateful for an amazing daddy! My dad is so smart and so helpful to me in so many ways! I always feel so blessed to have a dad that can give such wise counsel.
3. I am grateful for the daily phone calls I have with my sister! I look forward to chatting with her everyday, sometimes about important stuff and other times just about nothing but always giggling!
4. I am grateful for good friends, they lift me up and help me remember to be the person I should! And they always seem to know how to make me smile!
5. I am grateful for a good job and the opportunity to feel fulfilled by working and trying to make a way for myself!
6. I am grateful for the scriptures and the light and knowledge they bring to me!
7. I am grateful for the sweet whisperings and promptings of the Spirit that give peace and guidance.
8. I am grateful for the tender mercies of Christ and His love for me!

THis was more a blog for me to remember my blessings than anything! We truly are blessed individuals!
